Worn with leggings, these leg warmers are comfortable and cozy, and they’ll even fit inside most boots to double as boot cuffs. These leg warmers are designed to be long enough to fit from the top of the calf and pull over the heel. They’ll scrunch when worn at the ankle. You can easily modify this pattern to shorten or lengthen the leg warmers to fit your needs. Make leg warmers for everyone in your family; this pattern comes with directions for Adult M/L, Adult S, Child, Child S, Toddler, and Baby sizes. How these Leg Warmers are Made Materials Make these beginner ear warmers with Caron Simply Soft Yarn, a very soft acrylic yarn. Or, you can substitute almost any worsted weight yarn in this pattern successfully; just check your gauge before you start. I’ve found that Malabrigo Rios, a merino wool yarn, makes an excellent substitute yarn for this pattern. These leg warmers are made one at a time, and worked from the bottom up. This pattern can be knit in the round in two different ways. Instructions are included for double point needles and the magic loop. Pick your favorite method to knit in the round, then follow the instructions that match your chosen needles. Skills This is a beginner to intermediate knitting skill level pattern that requires a general understanding of knitting in the round, knit stitches, purl stitches, switching needle sizes, and a standard bind off. Size Notes Adult Medium/Large size fits 15-inch 18.5-inch calf circumference; measures 19 inches top to bottom. Adult Small size fits 11.5-inch to 15-inch calf circumference; measures 17 inches top to bottom. Child size fits children 6 to 10 years of age or 10-inch to 11.5-inch calf circumference; measures 15 inches top to bottom Child Small size fits children 3 to 6 years of age or 8-inch to 10 -inch calf circumference; measures 13 inches top to bottom Toddler size fits children 6 months to 3 years of age or 7-inch to 9.5-inch calf circumference; measures 10 inches top to bottom. Baby size fits children 0 to 6 months of age or 6.5-inch to 7-inch calf circumference; measures 7.5 inches top to bottom. Care If you use the materials suggested in this pattern, your final product will be machine washable. To keep your leg warmers looking their best, hand wash or machine wash separately on delicate cycle in cold water. You may tumble dry on low heat, but laying flat to dry is recommended.
